George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis has revived the Obama-era narrative that law enforcement is endemically racist. Only in rare cases are White policers charge or convicted for killing unarmed Black men, women, and even Black children.
Black women’s interaction with law enforcement is marked by violence. Black women are murdered by the police. They are assaulted and injured by the police. They are arrested unlawfully by the police, and finally, they are tried, convicted, and incarcerated for defending themselves against police violence. Police violence against Black women is long-standing, pervasive, just like violence against Black Men.
Black children are the most affected victim of these State sanction violence against African Americans in America, as Black children witness this violence and see their parents falsely arrested and incarcerated. In many cases, Balck children are left to fend for themselves, as the same White policemen target them as prey.
