In contrast to how many countries recruit and train their policemen and women that are sworn to protect the public, US Police departments across the United States go out of their way to ensure that their police recruit is disproportionately drawn from relatively privileged segments of society: Men and especially whites with comeback training and experience.
The ongoing riot across the globe over-policing has often been traced to racial bias, but it may stem in equal part from the types of experience that many police departments across the country value and use as a recruiting tool. We at Afro World News have conducted extensive research on how race and gender intersect in policing and found that most police departments across the nation would rather hire a returning warrior when compared to applicants without combat experience.
If Americans are really serious about police reforms, there has to be a recognition that police killings and brutality in America are NOT just the actions of a few bad apples. The departments and the institutions are a basket full of bad apples.
The trending video of an elderly peaceful demonstration violently knockdown and ignored by other police officers is not the action of one bad apple.
