Twenty years of US, NATO and other allied sacrifces of blood and Trillions of dollars, the Taliban fighters marched into the Afghan capital on Sunday and sought the unconditional surrender of the central government. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani fled the country as the Taliban said it would move further into Kabul.
For many political observers, the Taliban rapid take over of the Afghanistan did not come as a surprice. I have have argued that regardless of the years and scarifice that the US has made in Afghanistan, the invaison of Afghanistan will forever remain US biggest international blunder. Goerge Bush and the Republican’s decision to invade Afghanistan and further distract their Objectives to invade Iraq demonstarted what has become a catastrophy foreign policy that other administration have tried to manage … But the elephant in the room all along was that which happend this weekend. The Taliban are popular in Afghanistan, and they are the only group that truely understand the Afghanistan people, culture and history.
The lesson from Afghanistan is clear… We as Americans can not impose Democracy, especially on people who are NOT eager and willing to accpet our version of Democracy.
Afghanistan withdrawal was Trump and NOT Biden
The decision to pull U.S. troops out of Afghanistan was part of an agreement former President Donald Trump forged with the Taliban in February 2020. Under that deal, the U.S. agreed to withdraw all its forces. In exchange, the Taliban promised to sever its ties with al-Qaida and end its attacks on American forces. The Trump administration began a drawdown of U.S. forces, and about 2,500 U.S. troops remained by the time he left office.
The Al-Jazeera network broadcast footage of Taliban fighters inside the presidential palace, sitting behind a desk that the network presumed was Ghani’s and placing their guns on it.
On Sunday evening, a joint statement from the State and Defense departments said the U.S. is working to secure Kabul’s airport to allow for departures, and would take over air traffic control with added troops on the ground.
Our primary goal at this point as a nation, should the key task of rescuing our diplomants, personnel and US citizens from Afghanistan, and count our losss, and learn from the leaason of history. No foreign power has ever succeded in occupying Afrghanistan…
