In light of the public execution of Floyd an innocent Black man by the police, many in the African American communities are asking the long-debated question; What will it take for Blacks to be Treated like full Citizens in Ameria?
On a daily basis, African Americans are treated with disdain, harassed, framed for crimes they not commit, and killed by the police that is supposed to protect them. It has been a State-sanctioned Terrorism said, one prominent business owner. No, where on earth does this type of wanton acts of violence is perpetrated against any citizen by their own government.
Many prominent African Americans have taken to twitter and other platforms to express their anger and frustration. In the statement, Jordan endorsed “peaceful” protests against injustice and demanded accountability, saying the movement needs to create pressure for systemic change. He also expressed solidarity with the family of Floyd and the “countless” others who have experienced racism and injustice.
The question many are asking now is what happens next? After the riots and expression of anger, what happens next? Will the police just go back to their usual routine? Many organizations like; www.nationaldayofactions.org are promoting a National Day of Actions starting on Agust 3rd, 2020 as a day of sit-at-home. They are requesting that all African Americans, and other Americans who want to see national legislation enacted to stop police brutality stay at home. No work, no business, no buying or selling until their elected officials do something meaningful about what many see as 400 years of police brutality and killings.
